Our Projects

About Our Projects

Throughout the year we participate in many projects. We collect food for our local food pantry, we collect diapers for woman's shelters, we run a gift drive at Christmas to help families who are displaced and trying to get back on their feet and so much more.

Helping Hands for the Holidays

In November each year we set up Christmas trees around our community with ornaments containing wishes for families who have been displaced. Gifts can then be purchased and then returned to any of our trees unwrapped. Our club members collect the gifts and deliver them to Trinity Services who preps them to wrap and put under trees for all the families. Most of these families are in need of basic goods as they usually don't have anything.

GFWC National Day of Service

In September the entire GFWC organization dedicates a day to the National Day of Service. Each individual club gets to decide how they want to spend this day but the focus is on Food Insecurity. For Sept 2024, we will be having a food drive for our local food panty from Sept 20-28.

Pinwheel Garden

Prevent Child Abuse is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. So, in April, we have a pinwheel garden featuring over 75 pinwheels.

Ribbons of Hope 5k

Raising Funds for those Most in need

Our Ribbons of Hope 5k was developed in 2020 in an effort to give back to our essential workers. It has since grown and become an annual event. Every year we choose a different organization to partner with and support. We have worked with Matea's Joy, Illinois Foster Closet, and the Lincoln-Way Marching Band. We host our 5k the Saturday before Mother's Day in Mokena, IL. Visit our Ribbons of Hope Facebook for upcoming race details. We hope to see you there!
